In February of 2020, the band released a full-length Japanese album called “The Moon, The Sun and Your Song” which debuted at number 3 according to The Oricon Daily Albums Chart and fourth of the Oricon Weekly Albums Chart.
The band also began the 2-month (February between February and the month of March) Japan tour of the identical title. On the 21st of February He was featured on an article on the cover of Korean Wave Japanese Magazine Hanryu Pia for the fourth time.
The 14th of April, 2020 it was reported Kim Hyun-Joong’s decision not renewing his agreement with KeyEast.
KeyEast’s spokesperson said KeyEast Stated “Recently, Kim Hyun Joong’s contract with KeyEast expired. Instead of renewing the contract, we decided to help each other’s careers.” They added, “Kim Hyun Joong’s album work will continue with his own label that Kim Hyun Joong established last year.”

On August 21, he began an World Tour titled BIO-RHYTHM which was completed on January 25 20th, 2020. The tour was held in Japan, South Korea, Macau, Mexico, Bolivia, Peru and the Philippines.
In the year 2019, as part of his BIO-RHYTHM world tour in Thailand the artist gave 9.7 million Japanese rupiah to help pay the tuition costs for students at the Sumakee Learning Center, Mae Sot District, Tak Province.
In July of 2017, Kim released his first album since he left the military in the form of the Japanese single album, rewind. It reached the top position in the Oricon album chart.
After the release of the album, Kim went on Innercore 16-city Japanese tour. In November, Kim released the EP Haze which was his debut Korean album in over three years.

Prosecutors brought in criminal charges for Kim’s former partner, Choi for attempted fraud and defamation in January of 2017. In February, Choi was fined 5 million KRW for fraud she attempted to commit.
In March of 2017, Kim was charged with drunk driving after police discovered Kim intoxicated on the road at a stoplight in Seoul. The driver’s license was suspended and he eventually was sentenced to $2 million KRW.
Kim dropped his album, his second Japanese recording album Imademo. Imademo the 11th of February the 11th of February, 2015. The album topped in the Oricon chart at the second spot and remained there throughout 10 consecutive days.
Kim was enlisted into the South Korean army to complete its mandatory military service in the month of May 2015.
After having completed 5 weeks of training in the Gyeonggi Do the 30th Recruit Training Squadron,, he was posted as a border guard in the Korean Demilitarized Zone.

In February of 2015 the publication stated the news that Kim and Choi had been reunited and also that Choi was expecting. Kim said in an announcement that she was not able to see Choi since she had told him she was pregnant in January. He couldn’t confirm if it was him who was the father.
In December of 2015 an examination of paternity revealed it was Kim had been the father to a child who Choi gave the birth in September that year.

In the middle of October, Kim went on to leave Barefooted Friends to film a new drama. After appearing as pretty guys in his two previous series, Kim played a tougher part on the show Inspiring Generation which began airing in January of 2014.
On August 14, 2014, the girlfriend named solely by her surname Choi was charged with assault against Kim alleging she was repeatedly beaten by him which resulted in bruises and broken ribs.
Kim was adamant about the accusations and claimed that he injured Choi just once and the incident took place during a time of martial arts.
Choi removed some of the accusations against Kim in September, when he apologized to Choi for her actions. Then, Kim was later fined 5 million KRW for hurting Choi the other way, and the prosecutor’s statements that, “While Kim claimed that he had no intention of hurting her, the damage from the attack was clear.”
The fine was later changed in 2016, when the army of the Republic of Korea and civil courts cleared Kim of the charges due to evidence that came into light, including text messages between Choi her mother, Choi and other friends, statements made from Director Dispatch (the tabloid for which Choi gave her evidence) as well as the statements made by the hospitals that were visited by Choi.
On May 1, Choi brought a suit against Kim for 1.48 million dollars for emotional distress resulting from the relationship she had with her she claimed his behavior caused her to lose an earlier pregnancy in 2014. Kim then filed and won 100 million KRW counter-suit against Choi for defamation.
The court ruled that Choi was defaming, the decision of the court that there was evidence to suggest that she wasn’t pregnant in the year 2014. The lawsuit was dismissed and she filed an appeal.
The album debuted at number five on the Billboard World Chart, and was the top 10 album in sales that year South Korea with over 100,000 copies sold.
At the close of the year Kim received the award for the Best Male Artist in the Mnet Asian Music Awards 2011. Mnet Asian Music Awards held in Singapore. On the 15th of December, Kim released a single on digital entitled “Marry Me“.
After the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear catastrophe in March of 2011, Kim donated 100 million KRW for relief efforts in Japan.
In the following year, he also donated 50 million KRW for earthquake relief efforts as well in 50 million KRW for the Korean Red Cross, and 50 million KRW to the South Korean organization that gives coal briquettes for those who are in need.
The year 2012 was the time he gave the proceeds of his first solo performance to an orphanage located in Fukushima Prefecture.
